Keeping your fiance’ on schedule…

6–8 months

• As soon as you and your bridesmaids have chosen your attire, he can start exploring options for formalwear.

• Accompany your fiancé on his trips to shop for formalwear. If he's going it alone, arm him with a thorough description of your dress so you can match your styles.

4–6 months

• If he is buying a suit or tuxedo that will require extensive tailoring or if he is having his formalwear custom made, be sure he gets fitted now.

• If you are getting married during a very busy wedding season, or during the May and June prom rush, he'll want to reserve his rental formalwear at this time.

• If he has selected his own attire, now's the moment to choose what the groomsmen will be wearing.

2–4 months

• Be sure that he has chosen and reserved his formalwear if he is renting.

• He'll want to encourage the ushers to have their measurement forms completed and sent back to him or his rental shop.

• He should check in with his father and your father so that they will know what to wear.

• If he is buying cuff links, ties or waistcoats for himself or his groomsmen, he will want to get that done now, especially if anything will be monogrammed.

1–2 months

• It's time to track down groomsmen who have not turned in their measurements.

• If he purchased his suit, he'll want to have a final fitting with the tailor—and wear his dress shoes.

1–2 days

• If he rented his formalwear, he will pick it up now.

• Whether he rented or purchased his formalwear, he should try on the entire ensemble to be sure everything is good to go. It's a good idea to encourage his groomsmen to do the same so there are no wedding-day surprises.

1 day after the wedding

• Whomever you specifically designated to return the tuxedos to the rental shop should do so now.
